Chao Evolution

Types of Chao (Basic Evolutionary Guides)

Dark Chao - Just as the name describes, it is an evil chao. It is black with certain parts of his body being red. Growing an adult Dark Chao unlocks the Dark Garden.

Hero Chao - The kindest chao available. It is white with blue at certain parts of the body. Growing an adult Hero Chao unlocks the Hero Garden.

Normal Chao - An equally good/bad chao. It is normally light blue.

If you would like a Hero Chao...

1. Go to 1 Player mode, then to Stage Select. Pick the Chao World icon, then select Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles (Hero Characters).

2. Go to the chao that you would like to be a hero, then pet it several times by pressing 'B' rapidly.

3. Soon, your chao should turn white and not get any brighter. Now all you have to do is make sure you grow that chao with one of the hero characters until it evolves.

NOTE: The same goes for Dark Chao, but use dark characters instead.

Intermediate Evolutionary Guides

Here are the 4 intermediate ways your chao can evolve (The 3 mentioned above are the basic evolutionary guides).

Feed your chao Green System Animals - Your chao will evolve into a Sonic Chao. Blue with spikes.

Feed your chao Yellow System Animals - Your chao will evolve into a fish chao. Head gets bigger with two fins.

Feed your chao Purple System Animals - Your chao will evolve into a NiGHTS chao. Purple with jester-like spikes.

Feed your chao Red System Animals - Your chao will evolve into a Dragon chao. Red with a spike.

Feed your chao all 4 System Animals - You will get a normal chao, but different from a regular normal chao.

Advanced Evolutionary Guides (Dark Chao)

Here are the Advanced Evolutionary Guides for Dark Chao. You must grow the Chao with a dark character to obtain these.

Dark Shadow Chao - Feed your chao Green System animals and after it evolves, give it Red Chaos Drives. It will look like shadow.

Dark Spiked Chao - Feed your chao Green System animals. It will look like shadow, but with green spikes
instead of red.

Dark Fish Chao - Feed your chao Yellow System animals. The Dark Fish chao is black with fins.

Dark NiGHTS Chao - Feed your chao Purple System animals. It will look like a dark purple NiGHTS chao.

Dark Dragon Chao - Feed your chao Red System animals. It will be a dark red dragon.

Advanced Evolutionary Guides (Hero Chao)

Here are the Advanced Evolutionary Guides for Hero Chao. You must grow the Chao with a hero character to obtain these.

Hero Spike Chao - Feed your chao Green System animals. It is white and yellowish, a spike on it's head and blue stirpes.

Hero Swim Chao - Feed your chao Yellow System animals. It is white with two short, green spikes on its head.

Hero Fly Chao - Feed your chao Purple System animals. It is white with short, purple spikes sticking out at the top.

Hero Power Chao - Feed your chao Red System animals. It is whtie and red with three spikes at the head.

Creating Advanced Chao

Creating Advanced Chao

There are 3 main factors that determine what type of chao you have:

The first factor is whether the Chao is a Neutral Chao, a Hero Chao or a Dark Chao.

The second factor is what Chaos Drives and Animals you've given your Chao, there are 7 categories of Animals, Green, Red, Purple, Yellow, Orange (Imaginary), Blue (Speacial) and Black (Ghost). By setting up different combonations of these 2 categories alone you can make 21 different Chao.

The Third category is the least reconized category but can still play a very important role in a Chao's appearence, after a Chao evolves into a adult if you can giving it a specific category of Animals/Drives it's appearence will change again.

For example, if you have an young adult Sonic Chao and keep giving it Purple Drives/Animals it will eventually turn a blue-ish purple and it will become an Elf Chao. Whereas if you just kept giving it Green Animals/Drives it would turn dark Blue and look a lot more like Sonic.

It would be very hard to list all the different combnations of Chao so here's just a basic list of the different types, that have been seen (if you email me the info about one I don't have listed here or don't have info for, I'll list it here). Thanks to the Chao Shrine (http://www.geocities.com/chaoshrine) for letting me some of their info.
